For e-filing, all companies registered with the Registrar of Companies have to procure legally valid Digital Signature Certificates. (LRA) DSC which is a licensed certifying authority has identified Registration Authorities (RAs) that are members of it's Trust Network to issue Digital Signature Certificates for this purpose.

MCA21 is an ambitious e-Governance initiative that builds on the Government's vision to introduce a service-oriented approach in the design and delivery of Government services. MCA21 project has been launched as a flagship initiative of Government of India by the Ministry of Company Affairs (MCA). The processes and forms of MCA have been simplified and standardized for electronic filing (e-filing) in this exercise.

Getting ready for e-filing
MCA has taken care to make the e-filing process as simple as possible. There are, however, a few simple steps that need to be followed in order to get ready for e-filing. These are:
• Register yourself as a Director
• Acquire a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
• Register your DSC
